In November 2022, virtual reality (VR) headset manufacturer Pimax launched a very bold Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign. Known for its ultra-wide VR headsets (see Best VR Headset), this project was very different, a hybrid VR device called the Pimax Portal. The campaign was hugely successful, hitting its $200k USD funding goal within a day. In April, backers should start receiving their new Pimax Portals.

Developer Fringe Realities has announced a huge update to Project: Nightlight. The changes address feedback from players, and tweak a number of things in the VR-exclusive game. The game is available via SteamVR, playable on all compatible headsets including HTC Vive, Valve Index, Meta Quest 2.

Requisition VR has had a storied history. Original set for release as an Early Access title on Steam back in September 2022, the game was pushed back one month at the seeming last minute. Eventually launching on 20th October, the game received a positive response. Now, players can get involved with the full version, as Arcadia VR has announced the release date for Requisition VR.

XR Source did not raise $25m, so maybe we backed the wrong horse. What XRSPACE intend to do with it however, is conceptually similar to XR Source’s agenda; to bring the metaverse to a consumer audience.

It is inevitable that as games and hardware age, videogame developers offer less and less support. This can be because time and effort need to be redistributed to newer content or it’s simply not affordable to keep things running.
