This past week PlayStation VR 2 has seen an influx of tactical shooters. Both Firewall Ultra and Crossfire: Sierra Squad have arrived to mixed reviews. Next to join that lineup is Mardonpol’s Alvo, with the developer confirming a PSVR 2 launch date this week.
Mardonpol conducted Alvo PSVR 2 beta testing in July, with a plan to release the game in either August or September. Considering the other titles being rolled out this month, it’s probably wise they went with the latter. The team confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that the Alvo PSVR 2 launch will take place on 14th September 2023.
Alvo lot of guns!
Just like Firewall Ultra, Alvo is an online multiplayer FPS, mixing realistic guns with plenty of action. But that’s where most of the similarities stop. For one thing, Alvo is available for the original PSVR, Quest 2 and Pico headsets, with a SteamVR version on the way. That cross-platform support should mean plenty more players to connect with and less time in lobbies.
Another feather in Alvo’s cap is its multitude of gameplay modes. Free For All, Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy and even co-op Zombies are all there to expand the experience. The game also trades ultra-realism for faster-paced gameplay, so players can unlock killstreaks, perks and, of course, a variety of weapons.
The title also sports a progression system where players unlock more and more equipment as they rank and level up. Additionally, daily or weekly challenges will also feature to keep the game interesting.
As XR Source previously reported, if you own the original PSVR Alvo you’ll be able to upgrade for $5 USD. If you’re buying Alvo fresh for PSVR 2 it’ll retail for $19.99.
There are only a couple of weeks to go until the Alvo PSVR 2 launch. Are to looking forward to it? Let us know in the comments below.
