Today was due to be the launch of Ikimasho Games’ Tiger Blade for PSVR 2. However, that seems not to be the case as the PlayStation Store listing now gives a December release date.
Both the PS Store’s US and European listings for Tiger Blade now give a 22nd December 2023 launch date. There’s been no update from Ikimasho Games as to the delay. Whether it’s due to further development time or scheduling conflicts is unknown. November has been fairly quiet for PSVR 2 games with Vampire: The Masquerade – Justice and Peaky Blinders VR the two major releases. Tiger Blade would’ve finished the month off nicely.
Instead, Drunkn Bar Fight‘s PSVR 2 arrival today is the only one on the schedule. Breachers is still left without a launch date. Compared to Meta Quest’s lineup of winter exclusives, PSVR 2’s looks woeful.
Tiger Blade Gameplay
“Set in an alternate Korea, you take the role of the deadliest assassin working for the Horangi chapter of the Tiger Clans. Ordered to steal a mysterious package from a rival chapter, you are shocked to find the object of the heist is, in fact, a tiger cub – thought extinct for a hundred years, the mythical creature is now desired by every gang in the city.”
Tiger Blade is a single-player experience based on Korean neo-noir action cinema. Run, gun and slice your way through enemies. As you slash an enemy with the sword, you auto-dash to the next action hotspot creating exhilarating gameplay. You also have a grapple as a secondary means of movement, equipped in the off-hand and used to hook and swing at marked points.
The game is a PSVR 2 exclusive when it does arrive.
