Big Sugar revealed Tiger Blade for PSVR 2 earlier this year to much intrigue. Now, the publisher has confirmed the release date for the game, set to debut on the PlayStation 5 on 17th November, 2023.
Set in an alternate Korea, players are thrust into the role of a deadly assassin working for the Horangi chapter of the Tiger Clans. You must protect some very precious cargo from the ruthless gangs of Sewoon.
The game combines fast-paced sword and gun combat. At the core of its gameplay is the slash ‘n’ dash mechanic. Players will slash an enemy with the sword, and then auto-dash to the next action hotspot. A secondary means of movement is provided via a grapple. Equipped in the off-hand, this device is used to hook and swing at marked points. This sense of speed and physical flow carries through into the gunplay. Quick reactions are required to shoot incoming threats or grab temporary cover. You can also lock bullets, or snatch an enemy’s more powerful firearm from their hands and into yours.
The game features several distinct districts of the Korean city. Players will journey through marketplaces, docks, and alleyways. Developer Ikimasho assures each has been carefully designed to ensure the 10 action-packed stages feel both authentic and atmospheric.
Tiger Blade for PSVR 2
Ikimasho has been building Tiger Blade with the intention of fully utilising the feature set of the PSVR 2 headset. The game’s action will be further intensified with haptic feedback and headset rumble. The game will also use the PSVR 2 controllers’ adaptive triggers. The in-board sound system will treat players to an original K-hip hop soundtrack, with tracks from artists including SINCE, Kitsyojii, Bryn, and Bruno Chapman.
As stated above, publisher Big Sugar and developer Ikimasho have confirmed that Tiger Blade will launch exclusively for PSVR 2 on 17th November, 2023. Are you excited for some Korean neo-noir action in VR? Let us know in the comments below!
