Ubisoft has been one of the biggest traditional videogame studios to support VR. Titles like Eagle Flight, Werewolves Within, and Star Trek Bridge Crew are all evidence of that. But it’s been a while since Ubisoft’s last VR game. Today, though, that changes dramatically as its flagship IP Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR is out now for Meta Quest headsets.
This is not only a major launch for the studio but also for VR fans. It has been a long road since the first initial announcement back in 2020. A time when the Oculus brand was still used and the Meta Quest 2 was a brand new headset. Incidentally, it was a joint announcement alongside Splinter Cell. While Splinter Cell would eventually get cut, thankfully Assassin’s Creed has seen it through to release.

Assassin’s Creed Nexus Out Now
A brand new Assassin’s Creed game built for VR rather than a port, Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR pays homage to previous instalments. This time around, rather than playing as one singular character on a mission against Abstergo, you embody three. The campaign is played across three separate eras, uncovering new memories from Ezio Auditore, Kassandra, and Connor.
You’ll be able to explore Renaissance Italy, Ancient Greece, and Colonial America and encounter historical figures like Leonardo Da Vinci. All whilst unleashing those deadly assassin skills on your enemies. Ubisoft has already said that it aimed to maintain the same fluid parkour mechanics of the franchise. Gameplay footage has shown that you can run across rooftops, leap from building to building and kill enemies with the infamous hidden blade.
Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR is out now for Meta Quest 3, Quest 2 and Quest Pro, retailing for $39.99 USD on the Quest Store.
