2023 is rapidly disappearing but there are still plenty of awesome VR games coming in the final two months. PSVR 2 owners are undoubtedly looking forward to Arizona Sunshine 2 and Bulletstorm VR. But there’s also Bit Planet Games’ Ultrawings 2. Having said a release was to happen ‘soonish’ during the summer, few details have surfaced. A recent update from the team confirms that the Ultrawings 2 launch on PSVR 2 is still expected to take place this year.
Updating eager fans on its X account Bit Planet Games said: “Hey #PSVR2 community! Just wanted to give you a quick update that we are trying as hard as we can to get #Ultrawings2 to you before the end of this year! As soon as we know a firm date you will too!”
If that wasn’t enough, the team previously noted: “Ultrawings 2 on PSVR2 is really going to be special. The haptics combined with the enhanced visuals = *chefs kiss*.”

Ultrawings 2
Ultrawings 2 was originally released in 2022 for Meta Quest and PCVR headsets, greatly expanding upon the original flight sim. For the PSVR 2 edition, the studio previously revealed that it won’t be a Quest port like some other games. It’ll feature its own higher poly assets and real-time lighting. Which, by the sound of it, should mean PSVR 2 owners are in for a treat.
The Ultrawings franchise has always maintained a loyal following, thanks to its light-hearted approach to flight sims. For the serious enthusiast, there are full motion controls to handle every aspect of the aircraft. Or, for a more arcade-style experience, they can be simplified.
A single-player campaign featuring five aircraft forms the core of the game. Players take on a variety of missions across various islands, flying in day, night, dusk, and overcast conditions. These can range from dogfighting enemy aircraft to popping balloons using a dart pistol as quickly as possible. Furthermore, there’s the eight-player multiplayer, offering up on giant online dogfight.
With only two months left of the year, the launch could very well be one of the last for PSVR 2. Do you want the game to arrive this year or are you happy for the studio to take its time? Let us know in the comments below.
