January wasn’t exactly a packed month for VR games, but there were some notable releases. Several games got delayed, including Orcs Must Die: By the Blade and Ghost Cam. But while the former received a new release date, Ghost Cam has yet to confirm its SteamVR and Meta Quest launch.

A Delayed Afterlife

Ghost Cam was initially slated to arrive on 19th January 2026. However, developer Arch Rebels announced on the day of release a delay due to critical bug fixing. A new date was planned for Friday, 23rd January. Unfortunately, the team revealed the game would have to be delayed once again, as it was still rectifying issues.

“The bugs were too spooky so we had to capture them before they got out of hand. We’re building something we believe in (and on two platforms at the same time, madness), and want you to have the best time playing,” said Arch Rebels in a statement.

So at present, it’s unclear when Ghost Cam may make an appearance, considering we’re now into February.

Ghost Cam Gameplay

As you probably gathered from the title, Ghost Cam mixes two elements, ghosts and photography. In this spooky horror experience, you’re searching for ghosts to capture on camera. Naturally, these spirits don’t want to be captured, so you need to carefully explore, hunting for traces left behind as well as solving escape-room style puzzles.

The haunted environments you’ll encounter continually twist and churn, turning into a never-ending labyrinth of secrets. And there are plenty of secrets to discover, with each capture revealing more of the hidden narrative.

While doing so, you’ll be ranked on your ghost hunting results. If the first photograph isn’t great, improve those results by taking more. And those choices do matter, because Ghost Cam features multiple endings to uncover.

More Ghostly Goings On

Ghost Cam might be the next spectral VR game to land on SteamVR and Meta Quest, but it joins an ever-growing selection. The closest resembling Ghost Cam is 2025’s Ghost Photographers, a multiplayer title where players have to avoid terrifying spirits, which can only be seen using a mobile phone. Or then there’s Hunt Together, where players go on the offensive either as a ghost or as a hunter.

Or for some classic single-player horror, there’s always Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife, exploring a giant mansion whilst avoiding the horrifying Spectres.
