The VR edition of the beloved Orcs Must Die! series was set to launch last week. Developer Teravision Games announced the 22nd January date back in November last year. However, January is now coming to a close, and still Orcs Must Die: By the Blade isn’t yet available. Thankfully, we don’t have too long to wait, as the game is now scheduled for a February 2026 launch.

Orcs Must Die: By the Blade Launch Date

The Orcs Must Die! Series
The Orcs Must Die! series made its debut in 2011 with a small but extremely well received Xbox Live Arcade game on Xbox 360. This was a tower defense game, where the player wasn’t an omnipotent hand crafting structures with button presses, but in fact existed as a character in the world. The game was a success, and was later followed by a number of sequels and spin-offs.
So now we come to Orcs Must Die: By the Blade. This latest title in the series is a Meta Quest exclusive game that puts you into the world. Not just as an onscreen avatar, but doing what VR does best and truly immersing you in the experience. You can expect a combination of traps setting and resource management as with the original flatscreen games, but also a healthy dose of what appears to be GORN inspired combat.
VR Adaptation
Orcs Must Die: By the Blade casts you as a War Mage tasked with defending Stormwreck Island in an all-new story. Rotten rifts are unleashing corrupted orcs, and you must prevent them from ransacking the island. Swing swords, trigger trinkets, punch orcs in the snout, and set trap that rocket screaming orcs across the room. Put on your headset, pop off some limbs, and spray gooey carnage everywhere.
Throughout the game you’ll explore fortresses and channel powerful magic either solo or in two-player co-op. You can work together with a friend to build traps, heal rifts, and doom the greenskin hordes with style.
Orcs Must Die: By the Blade Launch Date
Moved out from that 22nd January launch date, Orcs Must Die: By the Blade will now be arriving on the Meta Horizon Store on 5th February, 2026. The game is available to pre-order now, priced at £13.99 GBP.
Orcs Must Die: By the Blade made it into our list of the most anticipated VR games of 2026, so expectations are high. Do you think the game will live up to the hype? Let us know in the comments below!
