Dead Hook is the latest game from prolific VR developer Joy Way. An action roguelike where you fight waves of demonic enemies, the latest Dead Hook update makes the gameplay even more visceral. Literally called the ‘Tear Apart Update’, as you can tell from the name, its focus is on ripping your opponent’s limb from limb.

Developers draw inspiration from all sorts of places with other videogames a common one. One franchise that’s always been admired and gleaned from is DOOM, with its wall-to-wall action, seemingly endless enemies and destructive weaponry. And that certainly seems to be the case with Joy Way’s latest title, a roguelike shooter called Dead Hook. In XR Source’s Dead Hook review, we find that for all the gun-toting action there’s little else driving this.

Stride developer Joy Way was planning to release its next title Dead Hook later this week for Quest 2. That’s no longer the case as a new trailer has landed with a new launch date. This sees Dead Hook delayed by another month to the end of June.

Joy Way is a pretty prolific VR developer. The team behind Stride and Against, also has Red Flowers and Stack on Meta Quest’s App Lab. And let’s not forget Joy Way’s cancelled project Outlier. Interestingly, the latter wasn’t for nought, with the team creating Dead Hook from its ashes.
