A great many VR games pride themselves on getting players to physically explore a virtual space. Making them feel like they’re part of the experience, a feature unique to the technology. But what happens when you’re asked to do the complete opposite, where staying absolutely still is the name of the game? That’s exactly what Don’t Move asks next week.
On this page:

What is Don’t Move?
Initially unveiled back in May, Don’t Move puts you in the role of a test dummy at the Flinch Inc Dummy Testing Facility. Your job – as if you didn’t know by now – is to hold your nerve and stay motionless. Not easy to do when the company unleashes all sorts of horrors at you.
Designed primarily as a seated experience – you can play standing if you so wish – you’ll need to successfully complete all manner of ludicrous challenges. From giant spiders and snakes, mythological creatures, bees and more, all you need to do is stay still. Sounds simple, doesn’t it?
Don’t Move is the work of Spectacular Ocular, founded by Lucasfilm’s Tim Wildgoose. The game is a passion project of his, and it’ll feature a fully Ambisonic/Binaural sound mix that puts you right in the middle of the chaos.

When and Where?
Don’t Move will be available on SteamVR for PCVR headsets from 14th August 2025. But you don’t need to wait that long to sample the game, as a free demo is currently available.
Post launch, Wildgoose does have ‘Flinch-Pack’ expansions planned. While he hasn’t specified what these might be, it appears he’s open to suggestions via the game’s Discord server. So if you have a good idea for scaring other players, it might be worth a mention.
