Violence and Mystery Await Today in Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom

A few VR games have arrived for Meta Quest 2 in 2023 but none have been big blockbuster titles. That all changes today with the release of Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom from Maze Theory (Doctor Who: The Edge of Time).

Set in the same universe as the legendary TV series, this immersive edition features its own unique plot. In this VR gangster drama, you play a new recruit tasked with helping the gang on an important mission.

“I am always excited by the prospect of ‘Peaky Blinders’ entering new territory,” said Steven Knight, Creator and Writer of Peaky Blinders in a statement. “People who love the show will love the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world in such a total way.”

Cillian Murphy and Paul Anderson reprise their roles as Tommy and Arther respectively. The videogame will, of course, be filled with shoot-outs in iconic locations. It’ll also introduce new characters into the mix, including the politically-motivated gang The Winters Children.

“We’ve been blown away by the media reaction to The King’s Ransom after recently having the pleasure of showcasing it at Peaky Blinders: The Rise in London,” said Tim Jones, Game Director at Maze Theory. “Now it’s time for everyone else to step into the Shelbys’ world. Whether you’re a Peaky Blinders fan or taking your first steps into this iconic world, Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom is a thrilling and immersive experience for everyone.”

Maze Theory is well-versed in bringing iconic franchises into VR, the last one was for the BBC’s long-running Doctor Who. Called The Edge of Time it featured the talents of then-doctor, Jodie Whittaker.

Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom will be available later today. Supporting Meta Quest 2 and Pico 4 it’ll retail for £24.99 / €29.99 / $29.99.
