The Metro 2033 franchise is hugely popular on consoles and PCs, with three mainline games available in the series. Ranging from claustrophobic gaming to open-world adventure, the post-apocalyptic gameplay has garnered a lot of fans. And as you probably already know, Metro is coming to VR headsets. Called Metro Awakening, we answer some of your biggest questions, like is Meta Quest support available?

Is there a Metro VR game?

The virtual reality version of Metro 2033 is called Metro Awakening VR and Vertigo Games are developing it. That’s the same team behind the likes of Arizona Sunshine 2, After the Fall and The 7th Guest VR. It’ll be a completely original experience developed for VR headsets, with its story set prior to the events of the first game.

Is Metro Awakening VR only?

Metro Awakening will be a dedicated VR game. It’ll only support VR headsets. Vertigo Games has confirmed that Meta Quest 3, Quest 2 and Quest Pro will all support Metro Awakening. And so will PlayStation VR 2 (PSVR 2) and PCVR headsets on Steam. Ensuring no VR owners will miss out (mostly).

Will Metro Awakening be on PC?

It’ll be on PC only so far that it’ll support PCVR-compatible headsets like Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Meta Quest. An actual flatscreen, PC monitor version hasn’t been mentioned and likely isn’t happening. That’s mainly due to Metro Awakening being built from the ground up for VR mechanics and gameplay.
