PlayStation VR 2’s release schedule for December was looking a bit thin. But recently Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Want 2 was announced and now the highly anticipated Vertigo 2 has confirmed its winter launch date. The surprise this week has been the confirmation that Vertigo 2 will be getting a physical retail release next year.
Considering Perp Games is publishing the title, it’s not too unexpected. The company is renowned for its physical PSVR/PSVR 2 releases and Vertigo 2 is a hot ticket item. So the game will now launch digitally on 12th December 2023, with a physical edition arriving on 9th February 2024.
Bring on the Vertigo
Created by indie developer Zach Tsiakalis-Brown, Vertigo 2 is a sci-fi shooter built specifically for VR headsets. From its level design to the weapon mechanics and the enemies, it is one of the most highly rated VR games for PCVR headsets this year. It continues the narrative from the first game, although you can still enjoy the sequel on its own.
While the PSVR 2 port did receive a slight delay, Tsiakalis-Brown also managed to find time to release the ‘Bottomless’ update. The one and only content update Vertigo 2 will get, it was packed with gameplay mutators, alternate key characters and – most importantly – a level editor. As the name of the update suggests, all of these are designed to give the game endless appeal and possibilities.
The level creator in particular had been teased for a while. This allows players to build whatever they wish, no SDK or modding experience required. The update will be part of the PSVR 2 edition when it arrives.
