Several months ago Carbon Studio announced plans for a major update to The Wizards – Dark Times. A magical spell-casting VR game, the new features will add a range of visual enhancements and a co-op mode. Originally slated for an October launch, The Wizards Brotherhood update has been pushed into November to give the studio more time to fine-tune the experience.
Carbon Studio recently ran an open beta ahead of the update launch. It was due to the feedback from this event which has caused the delay. “We had an absolute blast with you and were given a lot of great feedback! Some of that feedback we’d like to spend more time with…,” the studio notes on Discord. “Our goal for this update is to give you a spellbinding experience with friends, and for you to enjoy the epic new features and gameplay to the max! It is for that reason we’ve decided we need a little more time.”
So now The Wizards – Dark Times: Brotherhood update is stencilled in for 9th November 2023.
More time more platforms!
Now time for the good news. The Wizards – Dark Times: Brotherhood was always going to arrive for both SteamVR and Meta Quest platforms. Initially, it was going to hit Steam first followed by the Quest Store. That’s no longer the case, the extra time means a simultaneous launch.
“A little extra time we ask for not only means a better, more polished final product, but also… a simultaneous release on PC VR and Meta Quest platforms. That’s right! Both PC VR and Meta Quest enthusiasts will be able to jump in straight into the action on Nov 9,” Carbon adds.
There is one slight caveat to this. You’d imagine a co-op update being launched on two platforms at the same time would mean cross-platform support. That turns out not to be the case. PCVR and Meta Quest crossplay on The Wizards – Dark Times: Brotherhood is not supported.
