Roblox Awaits Quest 2 - keyart

You can’t have missed the news that one of the biggest social gaming platforms in the world, Roblox, is now available on Quest 2. The creative social universe launched as an open beta last week, proving to be quite a success. Roblox CEO David Baszucki confirmed the news via his ‘X’ account.

Baszucki posted: “Roblox Beta went live on Meta Quest on 7/27. We have seen well over one million downloads in the first 5 days — another step towards Roblox everywhere, on all devices.” Considering that Roblox is only in open beta via App Lab, that is considerably good going. And quite possibly the best launch ever for a VR title on the platform in that time frame.

Whilst the figure is surprising in VR terms, considering Roblox’s reach and community it is still quite minimal. Figures from the company state it has 66 million daily users and 200 million monthly users across all supported platforms. Hence why it was such a boon getting the social game onto Quest.

There’s still a long road ahead before an official release, however. This is an open beta remember, so there are plenty of improvements to be made, ensuring a comfortable immersive experience for all. One of the main reasons for the beta is to help creators get up and running. Roblox has been developed entirely around its community of builders, many of whom haven’t tried making a world for VR. Whilst PC VR compatibility has been around for a while, ensuring it works for Quest is another challenge.

Have you tried Roblox on Quest 2 yet? You can follow this Roblox URL to its App Lab store location, it is completely free to download and start playing. You will need to set up an account on a different device, however, and then link your Quest.
