Best known for its Prison Boss franchise, VR studio Trebuchet is preparing to launch something very different in 2026. The team recently teased the first details for Compass, a colourful open-world flying adventure for all major VR headsets.

What is Compass?

Set in some beautifully rich pastel skies, Compass puts you in control of some sort of flying vessel. Your job is to scout ahead of a wandering Caravan to chart a safe route through, presumably because all sorts of dangers can lurk within those cloud formations.

The first trailer alludes to a greater narrative, but at the moment, Trebuchet has not released those details.

Gameplay Details

While the current gameplay details are a little sparse, we do know that you’ll be able to pilot a ship, upgrade it, and explore as you see fit. And furthermore, you’ll be able to leave the ship and explore on foot – or rather, with grappling hooks, like Windlands.

It’ll be part puzzler and part flying action, where you’ll have to solve environmental puzzles and blast enemies with your craft’s guns. You’ll also encounter the local inhabitants, recover lost cargo, and discover new regions. Sounds like a lot is going on.

All of this is drenched in some lovely-looking visuals that should make it a welcoming adventure game for all players.

When and Where?

Compass is currently listed for a ‘Spring 2026’ launch for Meta Quest, SteamVR and PSVR 2.

It looks like a promising experience and one that we won’t have to wait too long for, it seems.
