In the world of VR puzzle games, there are plenty to choose from. Whether you prefer a horror-themed escape room or a more stripped-back puzzle experience, there’s something for everyone. Realcast Inc’s Le Dino Labo falls into the casual puzzle genre, and as 131XR explains in its review, it provides a fun, yet rather short gameplay loop.

Dino Puzzle Bites
Le Dino Labo is a puzzle game all about bones, dinosaur bones to be precise. Bringing to life the prehistoric era for all you wannabe palaeontologists, the idea is to build your own dinosaur, be it a T-Rex, Pteranodon, Styrocosaurus and more.
Clearly taking inspiration from the likes of LEGO, providing each selection of pieces in its own bag, you then have free rein to build your dino in either VR or using Meta Quest’s mixed reality mode. Along the way, you can learn about the animal and its various sections, thus adding an educational aspect to your casual puzzle experience.
Le Dino Labo Review
As 131XR mentions in its review, Le Dino Labo is similar to another recently released title, Puzzles of the World. They both offer zero-stress enviroments to quietly build and enjoy a virtual 3D puzzle, making it almost a meditative experience.
In Le Dino Labo, you can choose the difficulty of the puzzle, adding a greater number of bones to make the process more complicated. And with the addition of hand tracking, you have the option to go with or without controllers. There’s a simple snap system in place that’ll lock a correct bone in place once you’ve got it near enough aligned. However, 131XR did find that this could be improved upon. In certain sections of the model, several bones (like the ribcage) look very similar, with no indication if the piece you’ve picked up is correct. This can mean cycling through them, even returning to one previously tried.
However, much like Puzzles of the World, 131XR’s biggest grievance with Le Dino Labo is with the amount of content. The puzzles work well, and the gameplay is enjoyable, yet there are only five dinosaurs to build, easily completed in one sitting.
More Bones to Pick
Le Dino Labo is a recommended puzzle game for Meta Quest, but if you want more value for money, you might want to wait until more content is added. The game already lists three more dinosaur puzzles as ‘coming soon’, but when they’ll arrive is unknown. 131XR even mentions that it would’ve been preferable to have eight puzzles at launch, with a further eight coming soon after to bolster the library.
For now, Realcast Inc has released a quality-of-life update for Le Dino Labo, ensuring a smoother, more accessible experience.
