After 10 Years Owlchemy Labs’ Job Simulator Surpasses 6m Installs

Job Simulator - Dominate VR Charts

Posted on: 28 Jan 2026

Few VR games are quite as iconic as Owlchemy Labs’ Job Simulator. It’s almost a rite of passage for any VR fan worth their salt to have a copy (or at least played), as it’s available on most headsets. Released ten years ago, the studio has just released new numbers for the iconic title, as well as details on its latest project, Dimensional Double Shift.

Many Job Simulator Installs

To mark the tenth anniversary of Job Simulator, Owlchemy Labs has confirmed that the game has surpassed 6 million installs. Whilst that isn’t massive for a traditional flatscreen videogame, for a VR game it’s quite impressive. Especially considering the last update was for hand tracking on the Meta Quest in 2024? However, the game continues to remain at the top of PSVR 2’s download charts, and was brought to Apple Vision Pro in 2024 too, helping those installs to continue rolling in.

And it’s certainly in these latter years that those sales have picked up. As Owlchemy Labs reveals, Job Simulator sold its first one million copies between 2016 and 2020. It’s taken just over five years to add another five million copies. XRSource would hazard a guess that the most copies have been sold on Meta Quest, rather than PSVR/PSVR 2, considering the store ratings are 21k and 16k, respectively.

Dimensional Double Shift’s Numbers

Released in 2024 as an Early Access title, Dimensional Double Shift took the same fun, silly gameplay of its predecessor and expanded upon it with cooperative multiplayer. Set in an omnidimensional diner and garage, you and three friends embark on wild challenges across different dimensions.

Crossing one million downloads, players have logged 2.5 million total hours in Dimensional Double Shift since its open beta launch. Over 6.1 million shifts have been played, averaging 23 minutes each.

“Back when VR first started gaining momentum in the 2010s, Job Simulator was among the first games to take off,” said Andrew Eiche, CEOwl at Owlchemy Labs, in a statement. “Ten years later, it’s still showing up near the top of monthly play charts, and we’ve seen that same staying power with Vacation Simulator, surpassing one million copies sold. Through that work, we learned players want worlds that feel great to interact with, are easy to jump into, and are fun to share, which led us directly to Dimensional Double Shift. Seeing Job Simulator and Dimensional Double Shift hit these milestones together shows we’re still delivering on that desire.”

Dimensional Double Shift is available on Meta Quest for free, with the Hexas and New Joysey DPC Dimension Packs available for $4.99 each.

Having a Hoot in VR

Owlchemy Labs’ VR games have always been some of the most enjoyable to play. Not only do they suit all ages, but they also serve as a great introduction to VR in general. Whether you’re playing Job Simulator, Vacation Simulator, Cosmonious High or Dimensional Double Shift, the level of interaction is always high.

And hopefully, that will continue into the future. As a world without Owlchemy Labs would definitely be a dull place to be.

While Owlchemy Lab’s games are highly rated and well-known, there are many excellent VR titles that are far less recognised. Here are some of XRSource’s Most Underrated VR Games that are worth a look.
