CM Games’ UnLoop made its debut on Meta Quest and PICO back in September 2025. The game was well received, with many critics enjoying the time-looping espionage action. The PC VR edition of the game launched in Early Access earlier this month, and alongside it comes promises for future updates to UnLoop.

Getting Loopy in UnLoop

UnLoop is a retro-futuristic VR puzzle game built around self-cooperative time loop mechanics. As a spy infiltrating a remote space station, you encounter a temporal phenomenon that creates copies of yourself each loop. This results in a replaying your past actions in real time. What this means in-game is that you can perform an action, then create a new instance of yourself as the original repeats that action. As such, you’ll have to plan ahead, coordinating instances to work together to solve puzzles.

It sounds pretty complicated on paper, but in reality it’s a gameplay mechanic that you’ll be come at ease with in minutes. However, that’s not to suggest the puzzles you’ll face are easy. The game ranks up its difficulty curve quickly, intentionally pushing you to think not just one instance ahead, nor two, but several.

UnLoop Update 1.1

UnLoop has launched on PC VR as an Early Access title. This means the team behind the game are continuously working in the project to bring it to full release. During the Early Access period, the team is committed to finishing and releasing a major content, known as update 1.1. This update is scheduled for next month. Few details have been revealed thus far, but we do know that it will continue the game’s narrative and introduce new puzzles. Plus, it will add a new mechanic to challenge you. Exactly what this new mechanic is has not yet been revealed.

Additionally, the team plans to gradually enhance the graphics, including lighting, shadows, and visual effects. Currently, the game’s PC VR visuals are identical to the Meta Quest 3‘s standalone version.

Future Updates

It seems odd that the Meta Quest and PICO edition of the game launched as a full release, whereas PC VR is an Early Access title. CM Games has an answer for this however. At the launch of the PC VR version, they stated: “Don’t be discouraged by the Early Access model. This initial version of UnLoop already offers the same complete experience that standalone players enjoyed, plus several patches, seated mode support and a few more quality-of-life fixes.

UnLoop is made to run smoothly on any PCVR system. If your hardware is capable of launching SteamVR or any VR title in general, it should handle UnLoop effortlessly.”

It would seem that the team behind the game are interested in making the PC VR version of the game use the hardware at its disposal. It’s no secret that VR powered by a PC can perform better than standalone headsets. As such, simply launching a port of the Meta Quest edition has been billed as ‘early access’ while the team upgrade the game for PC VR.
