Into Black Gameplay
Into Black is a VR survival game with a difference. There’s been many similar titles in VR in recent times, covering desert islands, the Neolithic era, post-apocalyptic cities and much more besides. Into Black however, is very much on a sci-fi bent.
With a focus on mining, crafting, fast-paced combat, and survival, Into Black invites players to explore, extract, and endure beneath the surface of a ruined world. You can play solo or with up to three friends co-operatively. The deeper you go, the darker it gets. Only those who adapt will make it out alive.
You can also take on side directives, master traversal, combat challenges, and upgrade your skills. Then there’s the PvPvE mode, Singularity, for you to prove your dominance.
Into Black PSVR 2
Into Black has been built from the ground up for VR, and the game’s PSVR 2 edition comes with platform-specific enhancements that take advantage of Sony’s latest headset. These features are listed below, verbatim from The Binary Mill.
New & Enhanced Features for PSVR 2:
- Remastered Environments – Every hand-crafted cave has been meticulously upgraded with enhanced geometry, water, and richer textures for a deeper, more atmospheric world.
- Dynamic Real-Time Shadows – Now featuring full real-time shadows, from the flickering glow of your torch in single-player to the chaotic interplay of lights and shadows in multiplayer.
- 90Hz gameplay for silky, high-speed action on PS5 with 120Hz support on PS5 Pro
- Eye-tracked foveated rendering for crystal-clear performance and precision
- Full headset & Sense controller haptics to feel every swing, strike, and explosion
“The PSVR 2 version of Into Black isn’t just a port – it’s the definitive way to experience the tension and depth of the game,” said Jason Spencer, Community Manager at The Binary Mill. “Between the haptics, the fidelity, and the atmospheric enhancements, you really feel like you’re underground, alone or with your squad, just trying to scavenge and survive.”
As stated above, Into Black launches on 28th August, 2025. The game will be available for both PSVR 2 and PC VR.
