Tower defense games have always been a popular genre in VR. From way back on the Oculus Rift CV1 with AirMech: Command through to more modern releases such as Iron Guard on PSVR 2, the genre has been a staple of the immersive medium. And now its transcending from VR to MR, with The Smurfs – Flower Defense, now available on Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest 3.

What is The Smurfs – Flower Defense?
In The Smurfs – Flower Defense, you’ll be engaging with traditional tower defense gameplay. But here, you’ll be playing as if the world of The Smurfs existed in your own living room. As an MR game, you’ll defend the Smurfs by building towers and activating mechanisms within your own environment.
You can grab Smurfs and place them in the right spot to keep the enemy at bay, while planning the overall strategy to succeed. Smurfette, Storm, Brainy and Jokey are here, each with their own unique powers. You’ll want to use them wisely in order to maximise your advantage.
But The Smurfs is for kids, right? Well, if you’re after something more challenging the game includes a hard mode for seasoned players.
Save Smurfs’ Village
The Smurf’s VR debut comes with its own unique storyline. Fairy Leaf is about to celebrate the magic of Nature with the entire Smurf Village. But once again, Gargamel shows up to ruin the party! Using a wicked spell, he captures some Smurfs and scares the rest away from the village.
Dropped into their world, only you can save the Smurfs, protect Leaf, and stop Gargamel once and for all. Of course, there’s a wide variety of levels and three boss fights to engage in along the way.

The Smurfs – Flower Defense Launch Details
Thanks to VR and MR technologies, the little blue heroes come to life right in your living room. The game is promising to deliver ‘a groundbreaking experience and an unprecedented level of immersion,’ according to developer Microids. Honestly, given that The Smurfs IP is typically considered for children, we’d settle for a simple and engaging tower defense game.
The Smurfs – Flower Defense is now available on Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S. Are you planning on saving Smurfs’ Village this weekend? Let us know in the comments below!
