The Smurfs Are Back and Heading to Meta Quest

The Smurfs - Flower Defense Meta Quest

Posted on: 16 May 2025

The Smurfs have been around for over 60 years, from cartoon strips to movies and videogames, they’ve done it all. Almost. One medium they’ve yet to venture into is VR, but this summer that’s about to change. Microids has announced the upcoming launch of The Smurfs – Flower Defense for Meta Quest headsets this June.

The Smurfs - Flower Defense Meta Quest

The Smurfs – Flower Defense

For their first venture in VR, the lovable blue-skinned, white hatted Smurfs are starring in a tower defence game. The franchise’s long-standing villain, Gargamel, is back up to his old tricks, kidnapping 20 Smurfs and chasing the rest away, just as they were about to have a celebration!

So it’s up to you to put things right. Freeing the Smurfs and putting an end to Gargamel’s plans. To do this, you have to defeat waves of enemies by placing an assortment of towers in a beautifully colourful world. But there’s more to The Smurfs – Flower Defense than simply placing towers strategically. Switch between Smurfette, Storm, Brainy, and Jokey and directly attack enemies with each of the characters’ unique skills. Face off against Gargamel, Azrael, and the fearsome Howlibird in some epic boss battles, and if that’s too easy, a hard mode ups the challenge even further.

Furthermore, The Smurfs – Flower Defense can be played in VR or mixed reality. Bringing the action to life in your home.

Launch Details

The Smurfs – Flower Defense will be available for Meta Quest headsets starting 19th June 2025. It’s currently available to pre-order on the Horizon Store at a discounted rate.

There has been a little influx of tower defence-style games appearing of late. Iron Guard is now available for PSVR 2, and Crystal Commanders launched last month for Meta Quest.
