If you’re a fan of games like Call of Duty and want something similar in VR, there are a couple of options. One of the most popular is Combat Waffle Studios’ Ghosts of Tabor. Originally released as an Early Access title for Meta Quest and PCVR headsets in 2023, the game has gone from strength to strength. Soon, PSVR 2 owners will see what all the fuss is about, with Ghosts of Tabor launching tomorrow.

What is Ghosts of Tabor?
Built for VR, Ghosts of Tabor is an extraction-based multiplayer FPS. Inspired by tactical shooters like Escape from Tarkov, in Combat Waffle’s PvPvE survival game, you can choose to go it alone or team up with friends and create a squad. Either way, as you explore the massive island, you’ll need to scavenge and loot for vital resources. Guns, ammo, attachments, health, food and crafting materials can all be found if you look hard enough.
You can craft ammo and upgrade your weapons, but you’ll also need to manage common survival elements like hunger and thirst.
All of this and more have made Ghosts of Tabor one of the premium VR tactical shooters.
Launch Details
As mentioned, PSVR 2 owners don’t have long to wait, with Ghosts of Tabor launching on 7th May 2025. This last-minute announcement has come as a bit of a surprise. Mainly because Combat Waffle had previously said that the PSVR 2 version would arrive in 2023, before then being pushed to 2024.
After an expected late summer release never happened, the team announced a delay into 2025. And since then, everything has gone quiet. Until now, that is.
PSVR 2 fans will also be pleased to know that the game will come with cross-play by default. This can be switched in the settings if you so wish.
Who are Combat Waffle?
Combat Waffle is a US-based videogame developer specialising in VR. Founded in 2022, Ghosts of Tabor was its first title and became a breakout hit. However, whilst the studio continues to support Ghosts of Tabor, it’s now branched out with two additional projects for Meta Quest and Steam.
Both in Early Access, the first is GRIM, a survival shooter where players have to make it through the night, and where everything wants to kill you. Players need to gather resources, craft tools and weapons, and build a base in order to survive.
The second game is Silent North. Another FPS involving survival mechanics (do you see a trend here), this time you’re in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies, all set within the Swiss Alps.
Have you tried any of these games yet? Will you be picking up Ghosts of Tabor for PSVR 2 on launch day? Let us know in the comments.
