How does Homeworld: Vast Reaches fit into the Homeworld Universe?
Homeworld: Vast Reaches is not a straight port of any existing Homeworld game. Nor is it a VR adaptation of the upcoming Homeworld 3. Instead, the game introduces fans of the series to a bold new story in the beloved Homeworld saga.
In Homeworld: Vast Reaches, you assume the role of Fleet Command. Playing as a human commander directing a fleet of spaceships, you must attack, defend, and capture strategic resources. You’ll need to build up your armada of ships as you face off against a mysterious new foe.
Homeworld VR Gameplay
In Homeworld: Vast Reaches, you’ll engage in outer space combat throughout a new campaign crafted specifically for VR and MR.
The Homeworld series is famous for its signature three-dimensional combat encounters and environments in outer space. It is perfectly positioned for the world of VR gaming that empowers players to view the action from any angle as they drag, drop, and command their ships into precise formations for combat. Fleet control is in your hands, quite literally.
“We’re very excited to have players experience the signature space battles of Homeworld in ways they never have before,” shares Richard Rouse III, Creative Director at FarBridge. “Playing in VR puts you in deep space with your ships flying around your head, while in MR mode the dogfights and giant Mothership appear right in your living room.”
Homeworld VR Launch Plans
Homeworld: Vast Reaches is now available for purchase on the Meta Store. The game is compatible with both Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest 3 headsets. Homeworld: Vast Reaches will also be coming to SteamVR later this year. No specific date has yet been announced for the PC VR edition of the game.
