Joy Way released its single-player parkour adventure STRIDE: Fates for Meta Quest at the tail end of 2023. Editions for other headsets were always planned but with no clear indication of when they might arrive. Joy Way has now revealed that STRIDE: Fates should land on PSVR 2 and PCVR in late April.
We say should because Joy Way said in its Discord this week: “We’re aiming to release it around the end of next month!” So no exact date but at least there’s a launch window.
Furthermore, if you bought the original Stride on Steam you can get Fates for free. “Steam players who bought the game in Early Access (between Sept 4, 2020 and June 10, 2022) can get Fates for free at launch. In order to do that, please write us an email to stride.fates@joyway.games with your Steam account username and a screenshot of [your] purchase history.”
For those that don’t know, originally, STRIDE: Fates was supposed to be a campaign add-on for STRIDE. Not an entirely new game. Early access customers bought the game on that understanding, but Joy Way decided to split the two. This caused a bit of a stir, hence the offer currently in place.
STRIDE: Fates on PSVR 2 & PCVR
While STRIDE focused more on high-octane parkour runs, with the added component of a multiplayer, STRIDE: Fates is a solo experience. The city is your playground, where you can leap between skyscrapers, climb buildings, vault through windows and slide down cabling. This metropolis is also overrun with gangs, so you’ll have the chance to run and gun across the skyline.
Over the last couple of months the Meta Quest edition of STRIDE: Fates has received several updates. February saw the arrival of a mixed reality mode, adding seven mission types to blend into your surroundings. A few days ago, Joy Way released the Concrete Jungle DLC, a free expansion adding a new area to expand the story. Plus a new gadget, the wingsuit, opening up more exploration possibilities.
STRIDE: Fates is slated to arrive for PSVR 2 and PCVR in late April. Once we know a launch date we’ll let you know.
