Resolution Games released Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs for Meta Quest way back in 2019. Bringing Rovio’s mobile classic into the immersive realm, players now had the chance to fully explore puzzles before taking them down. Next week the gameplay takes a step further because Angry Birds VR is getting a mixed reality update!
While titles like Drop Dead: The Cabin have provided over-the-top mixed reality experiences, with zombies smashing through walls this won’t be as intense. Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs will provide a slice of tabletop puzzling. Each level can be placed on a flat surface before players start disassembling with their bird-filled catapult.
From the initial teaser video Resolution Games has released, Angry Birds VR looks ideally suited to mixed reality. The normal VR version had teleport points to move between. In mixed reality those points seem to have gone, giving you more freedom to walk around the puzzle.
Angry Birds VR in Mixed Reality
Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs has 104 greedy green pig stages to complete. Armed with Red, Chuck, Bomb and the rest of the gang, the gameplay remains addictively the same as always. Fire the birds at key critical points in the pigs’ fortresses to bring them down. Utilising each character’s unique abilities to deliver a crushing blow.
There’s more to Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs than the premade levels, however. It also includes a level editor where players can design and play their levels as well as share their creations. Considering the amount of years the game has been available, that means there are thousands of community stages to discover!
The Angry Birds VR mixed reality update will be released for Meta Quest headsets on 26th March 2024. Resolution Games is also working on another big IP bringing Dungeons & Dragons into VR.
