Fast Travel Games unveiled its new multiplayer title Mannequin last year. In February, those signed up to its Discord server could access an early version of the game. Now, the studio has released the Mannequin open alpha on SideQuest, making it (relatively) easier to jump into a match.
For a limited time, head on over to SideQuest and you’ll be able to sideload Mannequin. So long as you have a Meta Quest 2, Quest 3 or Quest Pro, of course. If you’ve never sideloaded a game before, check out our handy SideQuest guide to get you started.
If you’ve already immersed yourself in the world of Mannequin this new release offers several updates. The previously available maps ‘Courtyard’ and ‘The Lab’ have been replaced by ‘Broken Bunker’ and ‘Last Resort’. There’s an updated lobby, an improved tutorial, and the ability to find friends in custom games. As well as more performance and balance tweaks. You can watch a sneak peek of the new gameplay here.
Manniquin Open Alpha
Mannequin is an asymmetric multiplayer VR game for up to five players in 2v3 matches. Inspired by the likes of Among Us and Dead By Daylight, two elite agents hunt for shape-shifting aliens called Mannequins. If you’re an agent then you have to scan an neutralise them using and EMP gun. You can’t liberally run around blasting everything you see becuase ammunition limited and shooting a frozen human jams your gun.
That then gives the opposing Manniquin players a chance to strike. As a Mannequin they have to pose and blend in, dashing forward and freezing agents with a touch of a hand.
Currently, Fast Travel Games hasn’t specified a release date for Mannequin. It’s due for release this Spring for PSVR 2, Meta Quest and PCVR headsets.
