Cosmic Comedy Breathedge Heads to Meta Quest This Week

RedRuins Softworks’ sci-fi survival game Breathedge was never the most conventional of its genre. Released in 2021, trying not to die in space is no easy task, but at least you had an immortal chicken by your side. Thankfully, publisher HypeTrain Digital saw fit to bring the universe to VR, with Breathedge: Cosmic Cluck set to arrive for Meta Quest in a few days.

Breathedge: Cosmic Cluck is a standalone version of the franchise. Set in the same universe but with its own original narrative. This means you don’t need to have played its flatscreen cousin. You play the ambiguously named ‘Man’, who, accompanied by his feathered friend looks after his space farm.

But this isn’t some sedate homestead where you’ll be tilling your very own space rock. All sorts of challenges, enemies and crafting opportunities await. As well as the chance to visit other space farms.

Vital to every aspect of the VR edition are your multitool and immortal chicken. The multitool serves as a cosmic grappling hook, so you can pull yourself to asteroids and shipwrecks. You can also use it to grab and throw garbage at enemies. As for your companion, that crazy chicken provides the sort of in-depth commentary any spacefarer needs.

As you begin to explore outer space you’ll find the farms of an athlete, a hippie, and a criminal mastermind. Plus, there’s a sinister corporation behind all the rubbish you keep finding.

Breathedge: Cosmic Cluck will be available for Meta Quest headsets from 22nd February 2024. Until that date, you can pre-order the game with a nice 20% discount. It’s one of the last new VR games to arrive in February, rounding off a solid month of releases.
