One Hamsa, the studio behind Racket Nx is gearing up to release its next VR game, UNDERDOGS. Originally revealed during the Quest Gaming Showcase last year, it is a roguelike mech brawler in a gritty cyberpunk setting. It’s due to arrive very soon, with UNDERDOGS now scheduled for launch in January for Meta Quest and PCVR.
An action-packed single-player adventure, UNDERDOGS straps you into five tons of mechanised mayhem. You’re stepping into an underground world of mech fights, battling for supremacy against bots and other mechs. This being a roguelike you can gear up your mech, battle, and if you lose use the spoils to upgrade and start again. Causing even more carnage with each run.

The UNDERDOGS story
UNDERDOGS isn’t purely mindless violence, there is a narrative underpinning the whole thing. “Two brothers are in trouble as a cryptic piece of data finds its way into one of their brains and AI begins taking over his consciousness,” notes a blog post. “They head out from London to New Brakka in search of a cure, but they need to claw their way up the mech fighting food chain to survive.”
To do this you’ll need to make use of more than 100 items and power tools to customise your rig. You’ll also need to hustle and make deals, hiring saboteurs and hackers along the way to give you an edge. As a family team, whilst you’re in the mech driving seat your bro is hacking your enemies and giving you lip – like any good brother should.
The gameplay is highly energetic in UNDERDOGS because this is a physics-based fighter. You’ll be using your arms to swing punches and smash the opposition to rubble, making for intuitive gameplay.
UNDERDOGS is coming to Meta Quest and PCVR headsets on 25th January 2024. The game can be wishlisted on Steam. The Quest Store has a 10% discount pre-order bonus running until launch.
