DEFICIT Games launched VR Skater almost three years ago as a Steam Early Access title. Receiving a positive response from players, the studio in collaboration with publisher Perp Games then brought the game to PSVR 2 last year. To kick off its new year plans, Perp has announced that VR Skater will get an official PCVR launch in February.
If you’ve not heard of VR Skater before you can (hopefully) guess what it entails. This is a skateboarding game designed specifically for VR, offering a mix between arcade and simulation. With controls that are ‘easy to learn, but hard to master’, there are a bunch of urban environments to skate through.
There are various game modes to test your skills in as well as tutorials to get your VR skating career started. A Skate Academy teaches you all the street skateboarding tricks you’ll need alongside challenges to complete.

Skating 1.0
Considering how long the title has been in development, DEFICIT Games has announced very few updates. The last one on Steam came all the way back in 2022! With no pre-release notes to go on, it’s unclear as to what new additions the official release will include, if any.
Perp Games has made no mention as to whether the PCVR version is on par with PSVR 2. Or whether it’ll include additional content. All we know is that VR Skater will leave early access on 22nd February 2024.
However, on the subject of content, a new DLC pack is arriving for PSVR 2. Set to launch on 15th January for $14.99 USD/£9.99 GBP/€14.99 EUR is the SL Pro Series Tour DLC. This will contain two new modes, Mission Run and Pro Run, based on street skateboarding championships. It’ll also include new cosmetics and four more PlayStation trophies.
