The Meta Quest 2 has had a great run since its launch in 2020. Redefining VR entertainment, the headset has been the poster child for standalone VR. In that time it has seen a few price fluctuations, with the most recent Black Friday deals bringing it down to $250 USD/£250 GBP. With the arrival of Meta Quest 3, it seems those price reductions are now permanent, with Meta Quest 2 accessories also reduced.
Meta has officially announced that the Meta Quest 2 128GB model is staying at $249.99/£249.99. Whilst the 256GB model is $299.99/£299.99. Both save $50/£50 of the previous cost. However, it’s worth noting that Meta’s website in the US and UK lists the 256GB edition as out of stock, so you’ll have to look elsewhere.
It’s also highly likely these won’t get restocked. Due to the age of the Quest 2 and the launch of its successor, the price reduction will probably help to clear out stock.
Quest 2’s twilight years
But don’t be too hesitant in grabbing a deal though, the Quest 2 still has some life in it. All the latest Quest Store games including Asgard’s Wrath 2 and Arizona Sunshine 2 support the headset. And it’ll still be supported with new content for quite a while simply due to the player base. As recent Quest 2 sales figures from Amazon highlight, the headset is still selling well so VR studios would be silly not to support it.
Furthermore, there are more great deals to be had on accessories. All the Meta Quest 2 compatible accessories seem to have been discounted. That includes popular items like the carry case and the Elite Strap with Battery. The latter is great for extending those gameplay sessions.
