Compare Wanderer Old & New, on PSVR 2 and Quest in These New Side-by-Side Screenshots

Mighty Eyes’ Wanderer was an enjoyable time-travelling adventure when it arrived in early 2022. Surprisingly, only a year after its release the studio announced Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate, a complete remake of the game. New visuals, interactions, physics and content would be added to the game for PSVR 2, Meta Quest and PCVR headsets. The launch won’t take place until 2024, but to highlight the work being done, check out these Wanderer comparison screenshots.

The original game hardly looked ugly, taking you to gorgeous locations like the Mayan Temple, a 1960s rock concert and even into space. So let’s start with old and new screenshots from Wanderer and its remake. Below you’ll see an image Mighty Eyes shared on X (formerly Twitter). They compare the PSVR edition (top) and the new PSVR 2) edition (bottom) – as if you couldn’t tell.

Quite the glaring difference wouldn’t you agree? The studio also notes that these images were ‘captured in VR’. That would suggest screen capture whilst playing the game rather than from a PC in-engine. The quality upgrade is simply striking. Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate could very well become one of the best-looking VR games of 2024.

Wanderer Quest vs Wanderer PSVR 2

But what about the Meta Quest and PSVR 2 versions? The most popular VR platforms for VR gaming. Another X share with a very short video, this time we get to see the Meta Quest 3 in action against PSVR 2. The parity is certainly impressive and highlights what can be done with standalone hardware.

It’s also worth taking a look at the PSVR 2 trailer for Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate and the new Meta Quest trailer. They really do showcase the amount of visual improvements Might Eyes is managing to add.

Shiny new graphics are great so they show off the power of the hardware, but they can’t improve a game on their own. As mentioned, Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate will include a wealth of new content. There will be three all-new destinations to visit and generally larger worlds. Players will have full-body avatars and a greater range of locomotion such as swimming, jumping, crawling and climbing.

Furthermore, there’s a whole new combat system designed around a new set of weapons, ammo and enemies to enjoy. PSVR 2 owners will also benefit from eye-tracking and the headset’s haptic features.

Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate is currently slated for a 2024 release on PSVR 2, Meta Quest and PC VR.
