The Wizards Brotherhood Update Delayed Again

The Wizards Brotherhood Update

Posted on: 10 Nov 2023

If you’re a fan of Carbon Studios’ The Wizards – Dark Times then you’re likely looking forward to the new Brotherhood update. Adding an exciting co-op element to the game, it was supposed to arrive today. Alas, that’s not going to happen with The Wizards Brotherhood update delayed until the end of November.

Carbon Studio said in a statement regarding the delay: “There is no easy way to say it, so we will just go straight up. We are sorry, but in pursuit of an even more enchanting and magical experience, we have decided to reschedule the Brotherhood Update release to Nov 28.”

“We’re currently improving the game’s optimization to make sure you won’t encounter any stutters or immersion-breaking glitches as you explore the plague-torn world of Meliora,” the studio adds.

Ensuring a strong brotherly bond

The main component of the Brotherhood update is the cooperative gameplay experience it’ll add. Players on the same platform will be able to join up and combine their skills to vanquish enemies in the fantasy world of Meliora. Supporting both Meta Quest and PCVR headsets on Steam, the co-op update does have one small caveat, it’s not cross-platform compatible. So only Meta Quest 3, Quest 2 and Quest Pro players can sync up, and the same with PCVR players.

On the plus side, the update will add a range of visual enhancements to the three-year-old game. Actual specifics regarding whether these are new models, new animations or new lighting haven’t been specified.

Released in 2020, The Wizards – Dark Times was a sequel to the original The Wizards, one of the earliest games to utilise hand gesture-cast spells. Dark Times improved and expanded upon the mechanic, whilst offering players a bigger, more elaborate world to explore.
