When Rebellion and Just Add Water released Sniper Elite VR back in 2021 it received a very mixed response. However, it must have been positive enough for the teams to consider a sequel. And that’s where Sniper Elite VR: Winter Warrior comes in, with an exclusive release for Meta Quest headsets in November.
Just like the rest of the franchise, Sniper Elite VR: Winter Warrior takes you behind enemy lines during World War II. Featuring a full story-driven campaign, the game puts you in the shoes of ‘the Partisan’, a former Italian resistance soldier reliving his memories. As an elite sniper, you uncover Nazi ‘wonder-weapons’, these need to be destroyed alongside those planning on using them.
A wintery fight
As the name suggests, this time around the environment will be far more frigid and snow-covered. But the same core Sniper Elite experience will remain, with your trusty sniper rifle and an arsenal of era-specific weapons. They’ll all feature manual reloading and the brutal X-Ray Kill Cam makes its return.
Ensuring there’s plenty to do in Sniper Elite VR: Winter Warrior, Rebellion and Just Add Water have included two additional gameplay modes. The first is Sniper Hunt, a game of cat and mouse against expert Nazi snipers. “Take out a patrol of enemy soldiers to lure out the sniper before relocating, collecting ammo and getting ready to face the next opponent.”
Whilst Last Stand is more of a horde mode against waves of enemies. “You will have to think and act fast to gather weapons and ammunition, and set traps, before fighting to survive against the oncoming forces.”
Sniper Elite VR: Winter Warrior is available from Thursday 30th November for Meta Quest headsets. It’ll be priced at £10.99 GBP,$14.99 USD,€14.99 EUR.
The Meta Quest platform has some exciting titles due this year including Arizona Sunshine 2, Asgard’s Wrath 2 and Assassin’s Creed Nexus. Which will you be buying? Let us know in the comments below.
