With the nights getting longer and the weather getting cooler, the onset of Autumn means an abundance of new videogames. So far October 2023 isn’t going to disappoint VR fans with over 20 titles confirmed so far, for PlayStation VR 2, Quest 2 and 3, and PCVR headsets. So let’s dive in and see all the new VR games set to arrive this October.
New VR Games October
Waltz of the Wizard
Waltz of the Wizard has been available for most VR headsets since 2019. This month it was the turn of PlayStation VR 2, with developer Aldin Dynamics porting the wizarding experience with all of PSVR 2’s modern features. Explore your wizard tower featuring spell creation and mini-games then head out into the expansive dungeon-crawling mode.

Pixel Ripped 1995
Another PSVR 2 port – there have been a few of them this year – the retro-loving Pixel Ripped 1995 gets the modern Sony treatment. Its sequel Pixel Ripped 1978 arrived later this year but for those who’ve yet to encounter hero Dot, the evil Cyblin Lord and some 90s gaming goodness, there’s Pixel Ripped 1995.

Project Wingman: Frontline 59
Initially released for PC VR headsets on Steam three years ago, Project Wingman now flies onto PSVR 2. However, Project Wingman: Frontline 59 isn’t quite the same as the original, with most of the campaign only playable on flatscreen. PSVR 2 players only get the six Frontline 59 missions.

Ghost Signal: A Stellaris Game
Originally released for Quest, Ghost Signal: A Stellaris Game arrives for PSVR 2 and PCVR headsets. A tactical VR action roguelite offers up a star-crossing adventure involving gigantic space battles, alien encounters, research collecting, upgrades and more.

Red Matter
You might already be playing Red Matter 2 but to flesh out the narrative you’ll want to take a look at its predecessor. This is a free PSVR 2 enhancement for those who already own Red Matter. There’s foveated rendering, smooth 90fps with no projection, 4K textures as well as revamped controls.

Dungeons of Eternity
An exclusive dungeon-crawling adventure for Quest headsets, Dungeons of Eternity allows for a cooperative experience with up to 3 players. Explore randomly-generated dungeons and utilise the physics-based combat system to hack-n-slash your way through legions of enemies.

BLINNK and the Vacuum of Space
Designed for neurodiverse players, BLINNK and the Vacuum of Space is an autism-friendly adventure set on a space station. Recapture green creatures called Groobs with a giant vacuum and help the local Norpopoleans clean the place up.

Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs
As if you haven’t seen enough of Rovio’s colourful birds, it’s now time for Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs on PSVR 2. Originally released in 2019, the PSVR 2 edition features enhanced visuals, improved 3D models and refreshed lighting.

BAM
A mixed reality game released in time for Meta Quest 3’s launch, BAM is a multiplayer battle game. “Set up the tabletop arena anywhere you want, and adjust its scale and rotation. Then take charge of your miniature robot puppeteer-style.”

PianoVision
Learn how to play the piano in this mixed-reality game for Meta Quest 3. Connect a MIDI keyboard or play on a flat surface with the Virtual Piano using Quest’s hand tracking.

Propagation: Paradise Hotel
It’s October and what would the Halloween season be without a horror game or two? WanadevStudio released its horror sequel Propagation: Paradise Hotel for Quest 2 and PCVR headsets earlier this year and now it’s the turn of PSVR 2. Explore a very creepy hotel looking for your sister. The only problem is all the monsters that lurk in the shadows.

Genotype
Bolverk Games’ Genotype is an “escape-the-dungeon” adventure set in Antarctica. Investigate the base and wield high-tech gloves that print living organisms you can use as weapons and survival tools.

Samba De Amigo
It’s party time on Meta Quest! Originally, this colourful SEGA music rhythm game hit the arcades in 1999, followed by a Sega Dreamcast version. Pick up your maracas and groove to 40 hit songs from the world’s most popular genres.

The 7th Guest VR
Remaking a 90s point-and-click horror classic, The 7th Guest VR is the work of Vertigo Games. Explore the eerie mansion, solve the increasingly challenging puzzles and try to work out who is the mysterious 7th guest.

Snow Wars
A multiplayer snowball-throwing VR experience for up to eight players. Utilise a selection of snowball-themed weaponry across four maps to win the day.

Tennis On-Court
Tennis On-Court is a VR tennis simulator with two core gameplay modes, ‘Arcade’ and ‘Realistic’. Play against friends or bots on a variety of court surfaces with a selection of rackets to choose from.

Dungeon Full Dive
Dungeon Full Dive aims to replicate the D&D experience by giving players complete control over their adventures. Create and customise your own heroes whilst an extensive map editor provides ample options to build entire tabletop worlds.

Vertigo 2
Comprising an 18-hour campaign filled with an assortment of weapons, full of non-stop action and excitement, Vertigo 2 was an instant hit on PCVR earlier this year. Now PSVR 2 owners get to see what all the fuss is about.

Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord
nDreams’ Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord is one of the highly anticipated VR games of 2023. It features its own storyline within the Ghostbusters universe, now set in San Francisco. Here players have to build a new headquarters and uncover a new mystery whilst teaming up with friends as there’s a 4-player co-op.

Journey to Foundation
Based on the best-selling Foundation book series by Isaac Asimov, in Journey to Foundation, you take on the role of a spy called Agent Ward. Your job is to infiltrate a group of deserters located in the farthest reaches of the Galactic Empire.

Out of Scale: A Kurzgesagt Adventure
An educational game, Out of Scale: A Kurzgesagt Adventure takes: “the iconic look and feel of [Kurzgesagt’s] 2D videos for users to explore and learn about the concept of scale.” Players will use a multitude of lab tools to explore worlds within worlds.

MADiSON VR
A first-person psychological horror game originally released in 2022 for PC, the popular title is getting even more immersive. Bloodious Games has remade the game for VR. ” Assume the role of Luca in a skin-crawling immersive VR experience, and undergo the brutal torment of MADiSON, a demonic force that compels you to continue a gory ritual begun decades ago.”

The Foglands
An atmospheric roguelike shooter from Well Told Entertainment, The Foglands sees you in the shoes of a runner. Living underground you’ll need to run, jump, sneak, and fight your way through the Fog to scavenge for resources.
