2023 sees Cloudhead Games celebrating 10 years in the VR industry. Having initially created games like The Gallery: Call of the Starseed, the studio found huge success with rhythm-action shooter Pistol Whip. Continually supporting the game with new features and scenes, Cloudhead Studio has just released a new Pistol Whiproad map. Furthermore, a new VR project is in the works.

The new roadmap highlights the recent launch of the Pistol Mix modding tool and the ongoing Pistol Whip Overdrive season. That’s set to end soon, with the upcoming Elixir of Madness arriving in the Autumn. “This collection will bring three new phantasmagorical electro-swing Scenes,” the studio explains. “Each spookier than the last.” So it seems that a Halloween-themed selection is on the cards.

Pistol Whip’s future

Moving beyond 2023, Cloudhead Games has confirmed that another new collection of Scenes is due to arrive in the new year. No details just yet on how many Scenes the new collection will have or whether it’ll have a particular theme.

Lastly, there’s the new project tease. It has been expected considering Pistol Whip was originally released back in 2019. In a press release statement, Cloudhead CEO and Creative Director Denny Unger said: “Our next VR project is a culmination of everything we’ve learned from our decade in VR game development.” Not much to go on there. But considering the team’s experience XR Source is looking forward to what they have up their sleeves.

Available for most VR platforms including Meta Quest 2 and PSVR 2, Pistol Whip is currently on sale via Steam. PC VR owners can pick up the game with a 35% discount until 15th August 2023.
