Meta’s next Quest Gaming Showcase is set to make its return tomorrow. It’s a chance for the company to really highlight the power, depth and fun of virtual reality to the gaming public. Hopefully, it’ll prove to be more exciting than the PSVR 2 PlayStation Showcase which was rather muted. What we need are some big names and franchises to really stoke excitement for 2023 and further afield. So here are the Quest Gaming Showcase games we’d like to see appear.
What time is the Meta Game Showcase?
The Meta Quest Gaming Showcase will be held on 1st June 2023 at the following time:
- UK – 6pm BST
- EU – 7pm CEST
- US – 1pm ET/10am PT

What to expect from the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase
As the name indicates, we’re expecting plenty of games but nothing relating to the mixed reality-focused Quest 3. Meta will undoubtedly have a big hitter or two lined up, but we’re also looking forward to the indie selection. This is where you get the innovative games, testing the boundaries of VR and what headsets like Meta Quest 2 can really do. When it comes to the most exciting VR games earmarked for the Quest platform there are plenty to choose from.
Asgard’s Wrath
The only game that has received a mere hit of an appearance is Sanzaru Games’ Asgard’s Wrath. A collaborative effort with Oculus Studios it was one of Oculus Rift’s biggest adventure titles in 2019. The hint came in the form of what looked like a Norse helmet – possibly Loki’s – in the initial showcase teaser trailer.
If they have managed to squeeze the original game onto Quest 2 then we’ll be suitably impressed. We’d also expect the gorgeous visuals to have taken a significant hit. The alternative is a sequel, giving them creative freedom to take the franchise in a new direction.
Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord
Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord was one game XR Source hoped to see at the PlayStation Showcase but didn’t. Maybe that’s because it’ll appear at Meta’s instead? Another reason why this is far more likely is the fact that the original Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord took place at 2022’s Quest Gaming Showcase.
nDreams (Fracked, Phantom: Covert Ops) is behind the project. One that’ll feature its own storyline within the Ghostbusters universe, now set in San Francisco. Here players have to build a new headquarters and uncover a new mystery whilst teaming up with friends as there’s a 4-player co-op.
Behemoth
This is a game still shrouded in plenty of mystery. Unveiled a few months back by Skydance Interactive, Behemoth features: “brutal yet tactical VR combat and breathtaking traversal gameplay as players conquer monolithic beings in a grim, unforgiving world,” the studio has previously explained.
It looks epic, to be fair, and is still slated for a multiplatform release in 2023. So if it’s going to make a big announcement – launch date, gameplay reveal – the showcase would be the opportune moment.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
It has to be there, doesn’t it? As mentioned by Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg in 2021, having Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas land soon would be a massive boon for the Quest platform, much like Resident Evil 4 previously was.
Again, this is another game with very few details teased currently. Simply that Video Games Deluxe is working on the project and it’ll be “a new way” to experience the game Zuckerberg previously claimed.
Assassin’s Creed: Nexus
This one feels like a long shot but maybe, just maybe we’ll get to hear about Assassin’s Creed: Nexus. Being developed primarily by Ubisoft’s Red Storm Entertainment, Assassin’s Creed: Nexus was first teased to the world in 2020. Since then nothing, it is a Meta Quest exclusive so why wouldn’t it appear at the showcase?
Previous (unsubstantiated) reports have suggested a reveal would happen this June followed by a launch in September 2023. These could be proved right (or wrong) tomorrow.
