Escape room games have become a common mainstay of the VR release schedule and 2026 is no different. The latest to arrive is Creativity AR’s Fixer Undercover, a title that has seemingly flown under the radar. However, as our friends over at 131XR found in their review, Fixer Undercover deserves far more interest than it is getting.

Fixer Undercover 1

An Undercover Fix

So Fixer Undercover is an escape room experience where, quite unusually, your job is to break into prison, not the other way around. The light narrative essentially puts you in the shoes of an undercover operative tasked with infiltrating a correctional facility, but without all the fancy gadgets you expect a secret agent to have.

Instead, Fixer Undercover keeps the gameplay down to earth, sending you in with normal everyday tools like a drill and a wrench. Naturally, while a lot of the puzzles are geared towards these standard toolkit items, the puzzles do become more elaborate as you progress, utilising environmental items to expand upon the gameplay.

Fixer Undercover Review

As 131XR states in its review of Fixer Undercover, this setup works exceptionally well. You’ll start off simply by unscrewing bolts to open vents or cutting through wires. Progressing through to multistage puzzles that’ll have you performing a sequence of tasks in order to solve the next challenge.

It all works very well and logically, as each area is its own self-contained puzzle as well as being part of a large whole. And should you get stuck, there’s no need to fret as you’re accompanied by a handy drone partner called Winston. Your robotic buddy can help in a number of ways, from hacking systems to providing helpful hints and tips (mostly).

If you’re a fan of single-player escape room-style games, Fixer Undercover is most certainly the right tool for the job.

Where to Escape to Next

Since its launch, Creativity AR has already released a patch for Fixer Undercover, adding lots of quality of life improvements as well as adding Meta Quest 2 support. There’s been no indication as to whether further content is planned, but hopefully, positive player feedback will see the game expanded upon.
