Innersloth’s hugely popular party game Among Us arrived in VR in 2022. This was thanks to a collaboration with Schell Games and Robot Teddy. Now, Schell Games (I Expect You To Die) has announced it’ll be ending its involvement. On the plus side, an Among Us 3D Definitive Edition is set to arrive in a couple of weeks.

Among Us 3D Definitive Edition
Set to arrive on the 24th March, the Among Us 3D Definitive Edition will permanently deliver some previously limited-time goodies. The free update will give players some fan-favourite event features and their cosmetics permanently. What these are hasn’t been made clear, but if you previously missed out on certain cosmetics, this time you can wear them with pride.
Furthermore, the teams have set up new monthly cosmetic drops through the rest of 2026 and beyond, so there’s even more reason to come back and keep playing.
Schell Games Leaves the Station
Schell Games has a huge catalogue of VR games under its belt, including the I Expect You To Die series, Siulent Slayer: Vault of the Vampire, Until You Fall, and Project Freefall, to name a few. The studio has been involved with Among Us 3D: VR since the beginning, but as Innersloth revealed in a Steam post, handing back the reins was always part of the plan.
Schell Games has nurtured Among Us 3D: VR into one of the most popular party games in VR, adding new modes, a new map and conducting numerous timed events.
Among Us 3D in VR!
If the name Among Us 3D: VR seems a little bizarre, it’s because the title has evolved over time, just like the game. Originally, it was called Among Us VR (like many a VR flatscreen port), supporting both Meta Quest and SteamVR. Then in 2025, it was turned into a hybrid title, Among Us 3D, delivering full cross-play support between the flatscreen and VR editions. It’s important to note that this cross-play support did not extend to the original Among Us game. So if you search on Steam, you’ll find three versions, rather confusingly.
