Evangelion Cross Reflections to Feature a Story and Battle Mode

Evangelion Cross Reflections

Posted on: 23 Feb 2026

It’s fair to say that XRSource has been excited by the prospect of Evangelion: Cross Reflections since its initial announcement in 2025. Details have been scarce regarding gameplay, while the general narrative has been more broadly discussed. Now we’re beginning to get more details through, including the fact that Evangelion Cross Reflections will include both a Story and Battle mode.

Neon Genesis Evangelion

Game Mode Goodness

It’s been fairly obvious for a while that EVANGELION: Δ CROSS REFLECTIONS (the official title design), would be a heavily narrative-driven VR experience. It is based on the cult anime classic Neon Genesis Evangelion, after all. The game will take place within the original anime’s 26-episode timeline, split into three games to make a trilogy. The first focuses on episodes 1-11, with players takingon the role of a new trainee. This was recently highlighted in an initial screenshot detailing a NERV application form.

That narrative will be enjoyed through the ‘Story Mode’, offering a new perspective in the fight against the Angels. As it turns out, if all you want to do is pilot a giant skyscraper-size Evangelion, you can do that in the ‘Battle Mode’.

Pixelity Inc. notes the mode features: “dynamic action sequences within NERV’s simulation environment, all delivered with VR immersiveness.” Hopefully, this will be more involved than the sequences in Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom.

More details to come

Over the weekend, there was a special 30th Anniversary of Evangelion festival held in Tokyo, with the event concluding today. Brand new details regarding Evangelion: Cross Reflections are slated to arrive, with game director MK Choi discussing its gameplay systems on stage. What we’re really hoping for is some gameplay footage, none of which has been shown so far.

We also know that there will be a mixed reality component, of which nothing has been shown.

Getting excited for EVANGELION: Δ CROSS REFLECTIONS

If you’re old enough – like us here at XRSource – then you may remember Neon Genesis Evangelion when it originally arrived back in the 90s. As mentioned, it only ran for 26 episodes – unlike some anime which can run for hundreds of episodes – but even with that short stint, it secured its place in animation history.

The fact that Evangelion Cross Reflections will have VR and MR modes, as well as a Story and Battle mode, and the ability to pilot (in some form) Evangelion, makes the game an enticing prospect for 2026.
