On XRSource’s list of most anticipated VR games for 2026, it’s no surprise that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Empire City is on that list. Being developed by Cortopia Studios and Beyond Frames Entertainment, new details have been released regarding Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pre-orders, launch, and co-op functionality.

On this page:

First Co-op Details

While it was known from the outset that you could embody Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello or Michelangelo, using each of their skillsets, less was known about the co-op mode. As you may suspect, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Empire City will support up to four-player co-op. So you and three friends can be the entire team, in VR.

Empire City isn’t about playing one of the Turtles so much as it’s about being one of the Turtles, and playing them exactly as you’d want them to be,” said Ace St. Germain, CEO of Beyond Frames Entertainment and Creative Director of Empire City in a statement. “While each Turtle has their different strengths, we don’t have traditional, pre-defined classes. Instead, based on your chosen builds, the gear equipped, and playstyle, you can freely organize how you want your sessions to play out.”

Cortopia Studios also released a dev diary, highlighting not only the co-op gameplay but also the open nature of TMNT: Empire City.

Launch Details

If you’re a fan of the Turtles, then there’s no too long to wait. The studio has confirmed a Spring 2026 launch window for Meta Quest, Steam VR, and Pico headsets. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pre-orders are now open, offering a 20% discount on Meta Quest. That drops the price from £19.99 GBP to £15.99.

But there’s more. PCVR players will be able to get an early hands-on look at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Empire City when a single-player demo arrives as part of Steam Next Fest. The first 15 minutes of gameplay will be available from 23rd February 2026.

TMNT: Empire City Gameplay

Set in their hometown of New York City, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Empire City puts players up against the Foot Clan. They’re once again trying to control the city, but this time without Shredder’s leadership. New York will be an open playground for you to explore using fluid parkour movements, encountering iconic villains en route. And you get to play as your favourite Turtle, mastering their signature weapon as you battle the Foot Clan.
