If you’ve ever wanted to step into the role of a legendary hero, VR allows you to don capes, suits, and superpowers in fully immersive gameplay. Whether you’re flying like Iron Man or mastering gritty combat as Batman, these standout superhero VR games let you bring your fantasies to life. Below are some of the best superhero experiences currently on Meta Quest or PSVR 2.

Batman: Arkham Shadow – Become the Dark Knight in VR

Launched late last year exclusively for Meta Quest 3, Batman: Arkham Shadow is a full-length VR adventure. Developed by Camouflaj, the game seamlessly blends stealth, detective work, and visceral combat, recreating the core of the beloved Arkham series in VR. Snuff out threats, solve mysteries in “Detective Mode,” and experience Batman’s world through intuitive VR mechanics like slashing your arm to activate your cape. The result is a truly immersive superhero experience that has earned critical acclaim.

This isn’t Batman’s first VR adventure. The caped crusader also appeared on the original PlayStation VR in Batman: Arkham VR. However, VR has come a long way since then, and so has the experience of donning the infamous cowl.

Marvel’s Iron Man VR – Take Flight as Tony Stark

Live out Tony Stark’s legend in Marvel’s Iron Man VR, with dynamic aerial combat and intuitive motion controls. You’ll fly through cityscapes using repulsor thrusters, battle foes like Ghost, and customise your suit, including unlocking iconic modes like Hulkbuster.

Originally released for PlayStation VR, it later launched on Meta Quest with enhanced performance and visuals. Fans rave about the immersive thrill of soaring and blasting enemies as Iron Man. Sadly, the game hasn’t yet seen a PSVR 2 upgrade, and it doesn’t look like it will any time soon.

Project Demigod – Craft Your Own Superhero Sandbox

Project Demigod is a unique sandbox VR title that lets you create your own superhero with a vast array of powers. You’re not limited to those of Marvel, DC or any other franchise. Instead, you’ll choose from abilities like web-slinging, fire manipulation, water control, and even super strength. You can combine different abilities in each hand for wild, physics-driven action and creative freedom.

While Spider-Man has made some lukewarm attempts at coming to the world of VR, Project Demigod has been highlighted as one of the best recreations of web-slinging in the medium at present.

Synapse – Telekinesis is Your Best Weapon

Synapse delivers one of the most compelling superhero-like experiences in VR, blending telekinetic powers with high-octane gunplay. Designed exclusively for PSVR 2, Synapse puts players in the role of a rogue agent infiltrating the twisted mind of a rogue colonel.

You can physically reach out to lift, throw, and crush enemies and objects with their minds, thanks to immersive eye-tracking and motion control integration. This powerful fusion of shooting mechanics and superhuman abilities gives the game a fresh, action-packed feel that rivals traditional superhero titles. With its striking monochrome visuals accented by bursts of color, Synapse offers a truly cinematic and intense VR experience.

Upcoming VR Superhero Games

Of course, we couldn’t wrap up this article without mentioning the upcoming Marvel’s Deadpool VR. Set to launch in November 2025, Deadpool looks set to break the fourth wall in all new ways as, in this instance, you are Deadpool. It’s you. You’re the fourth wall breaker.

But also, we have the likes of Street Gods looking set to challenge the notion of being a superhero in VR. Have you been paying attention to this one, or enjoying any other superhero games included here? Let us know your favourite in the comments below!
