Back in December, XRSource reported on AAA Games Studios announcing its mixed reality title Xploit.zero. A tower defence game initially due for release in January, that date has now slipped. With Xploit.zero delayed until next month.

Xploit.zero Delayed

It’s become fairly commonplace to see a game launch slip for one reason or another. There’s been no indication as to why Xploit.zero has been delayed, so we assume it’ll be a common reason like last-minute polish or finding a bug.

Either way, Xploit.zero has moved from its previously planned release on 28th January to 17th March. It’s a shame in a way, because the end of January was very sparse on VR games, whereas we’re expecting March to be quite busy.

What is Xploit.zero?

As mentioned, Xploit.zero is a mixed reality tower defence game exclusively for Meta Quest 3 & 3S. The idea is that your home suddenly becomes a supercomputer’s mainframe, and you become a human firewall to defend against weaponised, code-corrupting malware.

That means placing defensive structures around your home to kill various viruses wandering down a pre-defined route. However, unlike most tower defence games which take place on one flat plane, Xploit.zero will have you utilising floors, walls and even ceilings to stop these destructive programmes. You also have to watch out for flying Malworms, batting them away before they destroy your turrets.

Furthermore, you can upgrade your defences by collecting Memory Cores from defeated viruses and floating coins. Collect multiple cores to increase the strength of each tower, or use the coins to increase weapon capacities.

Which Towers to Defend?

There have been some great tower defence games arriving over the past year, so Xploit.zero has got some stiff competition. Especially as two of them also employ mixed reality gameplay.

For the sci-fi fans, there’s Crystal Commanders, a real-time strategy game with tower defence elements. While the other is one of our favourite games from 2025, The Smurfs – Flower Defense.
