It’s now time for the second VR game from XRSource’s Most Anticipated list to arrive, survival horror, Dread Meridian. The first horror game of 2026, Dread Meridian, promises a scarily gripping adventure for Meta Quest and PCVR headsets.

The Wasteland of Oglanbyen Awaits

Created by Japan’s KUKRGAME and Level Infinite, Dread Meridian has been inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s “At the Mountains of Madness”, set in the frozen wasteland of Oglanbyen. In this single-player adventure, step into the shoes of Daniela, a researcher who ventures to a remote arctic island in search of her missing twin sister, Isabella.

Being Lovecraftian-based, you can expect to encounter all manner of horrors as you scavenge for resources and uncover clues to her disappearance. Not only will you have to battle monstrous creatures, but there will be plenty of puzzles to stop you in your tracks. When it comes to those encounters, there’s an assortment of weapons to discover and customise with salvaged attachments.

Multiplayer Madness

While the main game is a single-player adventure, Dread Meridian will have a co-op/multiplayer component. Currently, it’s unclear if this mode will be available today or post-launch, but it’s a four-player Hunter vs. Monster mode. In teams of two, the two humans have to escape by any means necessary. While the monsters have to kill them, simple.

KUKRGAME held multiplayer tests at the beginning of January, so you may have already experienced this mode yourself.

Launch Details

As mentioned, Dread Meridian is out today for Meta Quest and SteamVR headsets. A pre-order discount is still available on the Horizon Store if you’re quick. Unfortunately, the previously available demo on Steam is no longer available.
