Survival shooter A Long Survive hit Meta Quest back in October 2025, but the SteamVR launch never took place. As it turns out, developer Friendly Fire Studios wanted more time for more polish and optimisations. Now, XRSource has discovered that not only will there be a PCVR edition in 2026, A Long Survive is also coming to PSVR 2.

New Release Details

While the Meta Quest version of A Long Survive has been doing reasonably well, the wait time for the other editions remains unclear. Friendly Fire Studios is ramping up development efforts on both new editions, noting: “updates on Meta may feel a bit slower than usual because a big part of our effort is focused on preparing the SteamVR version”.

What’s especially exciting to know is that crossplay will be supported across all platforms. A Long Survive features both solo and multiplayer modes, primarily designed as a cooperative survival shooter. Hopefully, the PSVR 2 and SteamVR editions of A Long Survive will arrive sooner rather than later to help bolster those multiplayer numbers.

A Long Survive Gameplay

A sci-fi shooter where up to four players have to survive alien hordes, players select from one of four unique soldier types. Completing missions means you can unlock powerful skills, weapons and structures through its branching progression system.

You are a Space Corp soldier, with your team tasked with defending an item called the Nexus. Not only are you well armed to achieve this, but you can also build offensive and defensive structures depending on your strategy. With aliens attacking from all directions, placement is crucial.

What’s Next on the Roadmap?

The team at Friendly Fire Studios are certainly going to be busy during 2026. Alongside those aformentioned PSVR 2 and SteamVR editions, they’ve got plenty of content updates to come.

The next update has been billed as their “biggest yet”, featuring “a significant graphical upgrade, a new map, new weapons, and many gameplay tweaks and improvements”. The idea being that the game will be in a very high-quality state when those other versions are ready.
