This updated engine provides broader support for enhanced graphical features, including 4K visuals and dynamic day-night lighting, as well as improved performance. According to the studio, these updates are designed to address limitations of the prior engine and provide a foundation for future development and content.
The rebuild also supports more accurate physical interactions and refined object handling in VR. This affects how ingredients, utensils, and cooking tools respond during gameplay. Players should notice differences in visuals and environment reactions compared with the original release.
Core Features and Gameplay
As with the original Cooking Simulator VR, the new version retains its core design focus on realistic cooking simulation in VR. You’ll step into a fully interactive kitchen environment and prepare a wide range of dishes, work with a variety of utensils and appliances, and experience physics-based interactions with more than 100 recipes and over 140 ingredients. Natural VR controls and force feedback aim to make actions such as chopping, stirring, and flipping more responsive and tactile.
The game continues to offer multiple game modes. These include a Career Mode where players become an experienced chef and a Sandbox Mode that offers freedom to experiment. In addition to the technical rebuild, the developers have noted plans for expanded content such as themed DLC and ongoing patch improvements in accordance with community feedback.
Cooking Simulator VR: Enhanced Edition Launch
While the original Cooking Simulator VR launched for PC VR in 2021 and later expanded to platforms such as PSVR 2, recent updates indicate that Cooking Simulator VR: Enhanced Edition is replacing the original rather than a completely new product. At the time of writing, Cooking Simulator VR: Enhanced Edition appears to already have replaced the original title on Steam. The Meta Quest edition however, does not currently have a release date.
