One of the oddest sub-categories within the simulation genre must be cleaning. While developers have brought all manner of simulation games, from mowing lawns and cooking, through to stealing and owning your own workshop, cleaning is a pastime most avoid until necessary. However, as games like PowerWash Simulator VR have proven, people love to power wash things. The next title to venture into this field is MR Clean, set to arrive this year.

What is MR Clean?

MR Clean is the brainchild of PotamWorks, the same folks behind Smash Drums. In fact, the cleaning game was born from Smash Drums’ mixed reality paint environment. The team then revived the idea for the Meta Horizon Start Developer Competition, which ran from November 5th to December 9th 2025.

The idea behind MR Clean is to combine power washing with mixed reality, where players can clean dirt and grime off their walls, floors and ceilings. There’s also a Virtual Objects mode with dirty 3D models like toy cars, picture frames and more.

Featuring full hand tracking support, rather than holding a big jet wash hose, your individual fingers act as washers, spraying the water directly from each fingertip. Furthermore, there’s a two-player Party Mode using one headset. The first player dirties up the room, then the second tries to clean as much as possible. Then they can swap over!

What’s to Come

MR Clean is currently slated for launch in “Spring 2026” for Meta Quest. PotamWorks has said it’s planning to build more 3D models to clean for launch, alongside more cleaning tools and more cleaning scenarios. That’s not all, crossover collaborations with other games are currently in the works, with Red Matter 2, Deisim and Ancient Dungeon already confirmed.

Which is great news for all you VR cleaning fans, especially considering FuturLab’s announcement in early 2025 that PowerWash Simulator VR would no longer be supported with future content.
