PAFI Games has officially launched MeCatVR, a cozy-style VR experience that lets players explore a magical fantasy world through the eyes of a cat. Available to download for free on Meta Quest, MeCatVR is designed as an accessible, relaxing VR title that prioritizes comfort, exploration, and creativity over challenge or stress.

Become a Cat in MeCatVR

In MeCatVR, you’ll step into the paws of a cat living inside a friendly witch’s home. The environment is filled with interactive objects and playful vertical spaces that encourage exploration. You can expect light parkour and puzzle-solving as the core gameplay elements. Whether climbing shelves, jumping between platforms, or discovering hidden corners of the house, the game emphasizes curiosity and movement.

One of MeCatVR’s most distinctive design choices is its complete lack of written or spoken language. According to PAFI Games co-founder Aram Galarza, accessibility was a core pillar of the project from day one:

“When we started designing MeCatVR, our main goal was for everyone to be able to play it. That’s why we decided it should be free and also that no words would be needed to play; in fact, you won’t find a single word in the entire game.”

This language-free approach removes barriers for players of all ages and backgrounds. This makes MeCatVR especially welcoming for newcomers to VR and players seeking a universally understandable experience.

I Am Cat Success

Unlike many VR games that rely on combat, time pressure, or complex systems, MeCatVR focuses on relaxation and self-paced discovery. There are no enemies, no fail states, and no urgency. Players are free to explore the environment at their own rhythm, making it an ideal choice for those looking for a calm, cozy VR session.

Of course, the elephant in the room here is the comparable VR experience, I Am Cat. Launched earlier this year, I Am Cat has become a runaway success in VR thanks largely to a hefty presence on social media. The game – which you can reviewed by 131XR in the video below – cast the player as a cat in a very similar manner to MeCatVR. In fact, the gameplay sounds practically identical, even if the theme isn’t a direct match. As such, we’ll leave it up to you to decide whether or not MeCatVR is trying to ride I Am Cat‘s coattails, or is simply a coincidentally similar VR experience.
