The tactical military shooter genre in VR is already quite packed, with the likes of Contractors, Ghosts of Tabor, and Zero Caliber 2 vying for gamers’ time. Joining that cohort is Forefront by Triangle Factory (Breachers). Currently in Open Beta, the studio plans on releasing Forefront as an Early Access title in November.

Entering the Frontline

Released in 2023, Triangle Factory’s Breachers has been a phenomenal success, delivering a 5v5 first-person shooter (FPS) where teams play as either attackers or defenders. Forefront, however, aims to provide a very different kind of experience to its brethren.

More akin to Battlefield, Forefront will offer 32-player matches (16v16) in teams of four. Players will be able to go head-to-head in semi-destructive environments, choosing from Assault, Engineer, Medic, or Sniper classes, each with specialised weapons and gadgets. They’ll have access to a range of land, sea and air vehicles, creating highly dynamic battles. And, of course, plenty of weapons with which to unleash some damage.

Current Open Beta

As mentioned, Forefront is currently conducting an open beta, which ends today, 20th October. So hopefully you’ve had a chance to play a few matches. With the arrival of Early Access, Triangle Factory will be adding a bunch of new content and features.

Alongside bug fixes the team didn’t get to during the open beta, the Early Access edition will include full weapon customisation and attachment unlocks, two more maps, HUD polish, and a Friends-system so players can hop in and tackle an objective with their squad.

1.0 Launch Details

So, when is Forefront launching? It’ll arrive for Meta Quest headsets, PICO and SteamVR headsets on 6th November 2025.

The official launch is slated to happen at some point in 2026, depending on how well Early Access goes.

Did you participate in the open beta? Looking forward to the Early Access launch? Let us know in the comments.
