Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom has been available for Meta Quest headsets for over a year now. A collaborative effort between Bandai Namco Filmworks, Atlas V, and Albyon, the game is now listed on the PlayStation Store, confirming that Mobile Suit Gundam is coming to PSVR 2.
Mobile Suit Gundam on PSVR 2
Currently, all we have to go on is the PlayStation Store listing, which isn’t much. There’s been no official announcement from the developers, and crucially, no mention of an actual release date or window.
So it’s unclear whether Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom will be a straight port or utilise PSVR 2’s additional features like HDR and eye tracking. The listing does mention ‘headset vibration’ and ‘controller trigger effect’, so at least the haptics will be utilised.
Pilot Your Own Gundam
For those non-Quest owners who haven’t tried Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom, this isn’t so much a game as it is an interactive anime film. That means it’s heavy on narrative storytelling and light on gameplay. You’ll still be able to pilot giant mechs, but only within controlled scenarios within the unfolding campaign.
As for that original story, for all you Gundam fans out there, you’re part of a mercenary group called Argent Keil. Set three years after Char’s counterattack in the Universal Century 0096, you have to deal with the remnants of Neo Zeon.
Expanding the PSVR 2 Line-up
It’s great to see Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom coming to PSVR 2 (whenever that might be), as the headset certainly needs it. Looking at PSVR 2’s release calendar for the rest of 2025 doesn’t make for encouraging reading.
Owners have the likes of Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked, Trenches VR, Reach and Maid of Sker VR, but not much else at the moment. So hopefully Mobile Suit Gundam might make a surprise drop before the year’s end.
